Training Week
04/15/08 at 01:23:47

Sean to the best of my knowledge is running a training week from the 11th-16th August. It will be in Campbell College and prices are yet to be confirmed. Places are also limited due to the size of the hall we have. Details will go out soon but if your interested email belfastfencingclub@hotmail.co.uk and I will forward you a form as soon as it is out.

That sounds interesting. Our hall is usually closed in August so I would be interested in training somewhere during that month, I'll get my email to the club.

While I'm here why don't you guys think of coming down to the Foil Team Championships next year. It could be one of the first All-Ireland events.

(Without subs you would need 3men and 3women for a team, needless to say we could do with more women if you had a few spare.)

Hi IJC
There was a reason we didn't do it this year, either it clashed with a GB open event that we were attending or it was directly after one. We had given serious thought to doing it this year. Let me know the dates for next season and I will see how it fits into our calendar.

Just to let people know that this is coming up.
Places are going but there are still some left.
Also cheaper than going to Europe for a week!

Just to let people know that the training course being offered by BFC will have a second coach from the Tuesday to the Friday.
Donny McKenzie will coming over to assist Sean for those four days. Donny I am told is an excellent coach and is an ex-GBR foilist and commonwealth sabuer (I think).
If anyone wishes there are still places left.

He's the Coach of Edinburgh Fencing Club. I've heard that he has a Gold, Silver and Bronze in Foil from different Commonwealths!
Pretty amazing foilist to say the least!

That's right. Finally got the gold at his last Commonwealths in 1998. Also fought in both Seoul and Barcelona Olympics. Certainly the best foilist and arguably the best fencer that Scotland has produced in the last 40 years. I don't think I can make this one, but having done classes with both Sean and Donnie before I'd strongly recommend it to anyone. (btw Donnie may be a foil specialist but for epeeists and sabreurs his footwork alone would make this worthwhile)

We hope the week to be hard work and very good. There still is a few places left. I think that the training will be as good as you will get anywhere else and cheaper than going to Europe.
Hope to see some of you guys and girls there.
